    What is US CMA course?

    CMA stands for Certified Management Accountant. CMA is a specialization course in Management Accounting that trains the candidates on different skills required in the domain. US CMA is offered by IMA (Institute of Management Accountants), an institute based in the United States, and is a highly respected designation all over the world. CMA is the highest credential in Management Accounting and requires professional training since it differs from Financial Accounting.

    Management Accountants play a vital role in the financial health of an organization by making critical decisions, safeguarding a company’s integrity, and work towards business sustainability. The IMA delivers professional CMA course in 150 countries and has built a strong network of 140,000+ members. IMA is one of the largest and most respected associations for Management Accounting professionals

    To appear for the US Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examination a candidate should have:

    • Membership of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)
    • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or an equivalent degree
    • Two years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management.
    • Completion of Part 1 and Part 2 of the CMA course exam

    Depending on the candidate’s dedication and focus, it takes 12-18 months to complete both parts, on average. However, IMA provides a duration of a maximum of 3 years from the date of registration to complete the CMA course.

    Candidates can appear for the part 1 and 2 exams in:

    • January/February
    • May/June
    • September/October

    Important information regarding Rescheduling or Cancellation of a Scheduled Appointment

    Cancelling your appointment with Prometric does not generate a refund or an automatic approved test window change. It only allows you to have the possibility to reschedule the appointment for a different date in the same testing window.

    You can cancel your appointment and reschedule it for another date within the same testing window if you cancel 72 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Prometric will charge you a $50 fee if you cancel your exam within 3 to 30 days of the scheduled appointment date.

    You can cancel your appointment and reschedule it to another date in the next testing window if you (1) first cancel your appointment with Prometric, and (2) then submit a transfer request to IMA Member Services (ima@imanet.org) no later than five days before the scheduled appointment. You will be charged a fee of $75 by ICMA, and Prometric will charge you a fee if you are rescheduling your appointment within 3 to 30 days of the appointment date. Both the ICMA and the Prometric fees cannot be waived.

    If you cancel your appointment with Prometric in less than 72 hours of your appointment, you will forfeit your exam fees with ICMA, and you will need to purchase a new registration.

    You must sit for the exam during the testing window that you registered for.

    To cancel or reschedule your appointment online, please have your confirmation number ready and visit www.prometric.com/ICMA. Or you can call 800-479-6370 if you are located in the U.S. or the Regional Registration Contact Center if you are located outside the U.S. Both options are available 24 hours, seven days a week. If you do not comply with the cancellation policy, you will be considered a “no show” and you will need to reregister with ICMA and repay the examination fee.
